The Third Winner of Suck My Flick
Dashiel and Sean of CITY BRIDGE FILMS for October 31st

…………………………….
October 31st from Dashiel Kulander on Vimeo.
Q:Tell us a little about where you guys came from?
Dashiel: I grew up south of the border till I was about 5. Then my family spent a year combing the west in a VW van named Valentine looking for a place to settle down. They left the California coast originally thinking they could return 10 years later but by then the prices had inflated drastically so they set up shop in Moab, Utah.
Sean: Im a Portland Native, grew up in Sellhood, went to high school at Cleveland, then hopped around at the local colleges, PCC PNCA, PSU. I am currently at PSU in the graphic design program.
Q:How long did it take you to make the project?
It took about 2 months to complete it but we only really shot once a week. Its amazing how hard it is to get people together. I would guess 20 hours of filming, including time spent coordinating the shoots. As for the editing, it’d be tough to say, time gets somewhat blurred at 3 am when your staring at a computer screen and sipping on Double Dog Dare.
Q:what camera did you use?
HVX200
Q:what did you edit on?
FCP STUDIO
Q:Crew size?
Its mainly the two of us that set everything up and coordinated getting people together, making sure we got everything we needed. On the larger scenes, like the party, we had to work quicker cause we were relying on so many other people. To help everyone maintain their sanity we enticed people with beer and dancing. We have a couple good friends that really helped us out a lot when we needed it, booming etc. Anna works early so she took a couple late nights for the team. (Thanks Everyone)
Q:Additional information / funny anecdote?
Bubbles and drunken kitchen dancing scenes don’t go well together. It started getting super slick and people we’re doing everything they could just to stand upright, then alone dance. We got pretty lucky with the low casualty rate, Sean being the only semi-serious statistic. (He had two beers.)

Q:Tell us a little about where you guys came from?
A:Geographically speaking, Jack and I come from the shining city of Rockford, IL (hometown of Cheap Trick, and inspiration for that lady baseball movie with Madonna and Tom Hanks), while Rob is one of the elusive “Portland natives.” I’ve been in PDX for 9 years, Jack for 5, and Rob for however long Rob’s been alive.
Artistically speaking, all three of us come from a rich history of dads who make awesome fart jokes.
Q:How long did it take you to make the project?
A:Episode 3 represents scattered casual brainstorming sessions, an hour or so of scripting at a bar, probably 8 hours of setup and filming over the course of 3 days, followed by a 12 hour day of editing and other post-y stuff assisted by a bottle of tequila.
What was your budget?
What was our what? We bought some beer for Jack to shotgun (and for us to generally quench our thirst), a watermelon for use as a stunt-head, and a Taco Bell burrito for throwing at Jack’s face. We maybe spent $18? But most of that was for the case of beer.
Q:what camera did you use?
A:Oh, wow, I don’t want to sound like an elitist or anything, but we only use the best, you know? We shoot on Mini DV tape using a Panasonic handycam thing that we borrowed from our next door neighbor, Tony.
Q:what did you edit on?
A:Remember my neighbor Tony? We also use his editing facilities, lovingly called “Beef Studio.” He’s got one computer with Final Cut on it, and one with Garage Band that we use for music and audio leveling stuff. It’s pretty safe to say that without one Mr. Anthony Paris, there would probably not be much film making going on at Dude Mt.
Q:Crew size?
A:Aside from 3 particular handheld shots performed respectively by Tony, our neighbor Aaron, and our pal Sean Bailey, it’s just the Dude Mt. boys. Oh, and our friend Tyler held the camera in the bathtub!
Q:Additional information / funny anecdote?
A:Additional information? Well, Rob and I are single, and Jack’s not. So, even though Jack’s the pretty-boy of the group, I’d like to invite all of the ladies in the house to lower their standards a bit and take a closer look at me and Rob. Thanks.
I’d also like to invite everyone in the world to keep checking our website and/or YouTube channel. Episode 4 is going to be released some time next week, and that just means that it’ll be time to start work on Episode 5!
