A few days ago it came to my attion that quite few of my friends don’t know about Current TV.

I tried putting together some words but found that Wikipedia gave a better over view. Current TV as per Wikipeida is  ” an Emmy award-winning independent media company led by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore and businessman Joel Hyatt. The cable television network went on the air at midnight EDT (4:00 UTC) on the morning of August 1, 2005. A second network, operated in the United Kingdom and Irelandstarted its operation March 12, 2007, for Sky and Virgin Media subscribers. A third network, operated in Italy started its operation February 8, 2008, for SKY Italia subscribers and after also for 3 subscribers.

Current TV features “pods”, or short programs, of which a portion are created by viewers and users.”

More over, they are a site/channel that broadcasts video pod casts no longer than 7 minutes. The pod casts are documentary by nature and created by people like you for people like you. If Current TV Likes what you made and they want to put it on their channel they pay you for the content.

Another feature of the site is the viewer created ads. Companies signup with Current TV to have users create ads for them. If the Company in question likes the ad they pay you for it. If they like the ad so much they run in on Current TV you get paid again. If the company likes the ad so much they run it on other channels your are looking at making $60,000. Its all contest based but they do give you their assets (graphics and music) so it might be a good thing to have on your real either way.

If you want to keep making video pod casts for them you will be set up with a Current TV producer. This person who will work with you to help make your stories more concise. The buck doesn’t stop there, they also offer a huge library of music you can use for free. Current TV looks to me like a good place to grow as a “One Man Band Filmmakers.”
