I LOVE JUDY

I LOVE JUDY from makeshift contraption on Vimeo.

I love Judy is a classic  story of a boy who meets a girl. The boy meets girl’s stalker and  falls desperately in love with her.

Who Wrote and/or Directed?

This was written, Directed and edited by myself, Dusty McCord. I take full responsibility

How was this shot with?
Mostly handheld with the JVC HD100 at 720 24p.

How long did it take you to make the project?
It look about 5 days of shooting. which was two weekend and a day. I worked out the shooting so we didn’t work more than 6 hours on any given day. I think it makes it so people never want to work for free again if they end up losing their days and their self respect.

In post, There were a few sound problems that took  time to work out because some things needed to be rerecorded. I don’t remember why but it took me months to edit this thing down.

What’s your budget?
I think I spend around $150 on the shooting. Most of it went to feed the crew and tape stock.

Crew size?
This one had an about 6 people on the crew for the indoor stuff and the out door stuff was just 2 people. Me at the camera and Dj Hupp at working the boom.

Tube Mogul

logo-2One video hosting serves to rule that them all!

What is TubeMogul?

TubeMogul is the first online video analytics and distribution company serving publishers large and small who need independent information about video performance on the Internet and automated upload to the Web’s top video sharing sites.

TubeMogul’s analytic technology aggregates video-viewing data from multiple sources to give publishers improved understanding of when, where and how often videos are watched, track and compare what’s hot and what’s not, measure the impact of marketing campaigns, gather competitive intelligence, and share the data with colleagues or friends.

For sites that host their own video, TubeMogul offers tracking far beyond the traditional metric of video “views.” TubeMogul InPlay, which can be set up in any Flash video player within minutes, tracks rich viewership metrics such as audience engagement, attention span and site performance — all in real-time.

COME PLAY FARM

THIS JUST IN

A media-making retreat in the Eugene-area this Summer. The Oregon Film Farm is geared for Media makers to work on projects, lean about growing organic food, and Positive work enviorniments.

Emma, The orginizer for the space wrote us about “scheduling open workshops/screenings/lectures on film and sustainable food topics with the guests at the retreat over the course of the summer, but I’d (Emma) also love to bring local filmmakers out to see what we’re doing too.”

“The basic idea is to enjoy an inviting and distraction-free place to work on projects in a balanced (not spending all day staring at a computer screen) way.

The other part of the plan is to create an environment where we can become more connected to the food we eat.  Watching our vegetables sprout and ripen before we devour them is a big part of this, so it will serve as a bit of a crash course in (very) small-scale food production as well.”

THE FREE BOX

The Free Box by Junk in the box productions is a comical webisode series made in portland about a a group of roommates just trying to make it.
They have youtube account and a myspace. Check them out when you get the chance.

How long did it take you to make the project?
We shoot 3 episodes in one day. so one episode takes about 3 hours.

What was your budget?
We have no Money at all. are cast and crew are great and we do it all for free.. well we do buy pizza for lunch..

Crew size?
myself(all around), jon(director/edit). paul(sound and pa/now producer), casey (lights and all around bad ass), janet(make up and script supervisor) Joey, (sound)so that would be 6 people. In the begining it was just Jon and I and janet.

Additional information / funny anecdote.

I used Sony Vegas 7.0 to edit the first ten episodes and I now use Final Cut Pro. We have shot on a number of different cameras starting with a PD-150 and upgrading all the way, now its something like an HVX-HD shit ask Paul. Most of the material is inspired and then embelished upon real events that usually happened to us in the previous week.

We always have a fucking blast making the show. we dont use prop beer or prop weed.. its all real. Some of the best parts of the show happen as accidents.
